In the last quarter of 2020, Rockstart launched its 20M+ Energy venture capital fund, backed by Enfuro Ventures, institutional investors, European family offices, informal investors and the government. Through its Energy fund, Rockstart invests in seed-stage startups contributing to the energy transition. Rockstart is now introducing the fund's first investments with nine startups. From smart grid technology to carbon reduction, these founders represent six segments in the energy industry and five different countries.

The Fund was launched with the Dutch pension fund ABP, and family office De Hoge Dennen Capital as cornerstone investors, together with Enfuro Ventures and other prominent private-wealth and industry investors and is supported by the seed capital scheme from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The Rockstart Energy Fund aims to invest in energy startups in Europe with a primary focus in the Netherlands.

Rockstart, the Global Startup Machine, announced the 10 startups participating in the 2016 Smart Energy Accelerator. The international group of startups come from 11 countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia and have applications focused on smart buildings, smart cities and smart industry. Rockstart’s Smart Energy Program Director Freerk Bisschop says, “This year’s batch doubles down on what I call the “Internet of Energy Things” with businesses that are using the cloud and integrating data intelligence, mesh networks, localisation, SaaS and micropayments – all with a smart green impact.
